The newly crowned Swiss champion has inked the 21-year-old defenseman to an early two-year contract extension.

Colin Gerber remains a Bear for the next three seasons.

Colin Gerber already had a valid deal in place until the end of the 2019-20 season. The youngster played most of the season with EHC Olten, recording two goals and nine assists in 44 games. While he also suited up for 13 games for SC Bern in the regular season, he was, on average, only on the ice for 3:31 minutes.

Moreover, as Der Bund reported this morning, team manager Alex Chatelain is not yet sure whether they will add a forward or a defender to their import player contingent: "We're looking for a lefty with a good shot. We lacked one of those, especially in the power play. Whether this will turn out to be a forward or a defender remains to be seen."

Still according to Der Bund, Adam Almquist will in all likeliness not return to SC Bern. However, Chatelain was not willing to confirm this. As for Vincent Praplan, who is rumored to join SC Bern if he decides to return to Switzerland, he will probably not make his decision whether to stay in North America or not before July.
