Stefan Nyman has been an assistant coach for Djugårdens IF in the Swedish Hockey League since 2013 and only recently lost the playoff final against Frölunda. Before his time with Djugården, the 46-year-old had worked for Södertälje and Malmö as general manager.

HC Lugano's coach Sami Kapanen has only praise for his new assistant: "He is a fan of our sport with a great ability to read the game," Kapanen says. "He is an experienced coach with great competence, especially in the defensive realm. One of the best in our profession."
