Julien Sprunger on his contract extension: "It is a great honor and pride for me to be able to continue wearing this jersey which is so dear to my heart. It makes perfect sense to me to stay in Fribourg. I'm very pleased with the new ice rink project and the whole vision for the future. The organization has great ambitions and I am proud to be a part of them. After 17 years with this organization, I now have four years left to realize my dream as a child, the dream of an entire canton, to bring the title to Fribourg."

The 33-year-old took over the captaincy from Benjamin Plüss, who decided to hang up his skates at the age of 37 in 2016. Last season, Sprunger managed to put up 21 goals and 18 assists in 55 games.
