Swiss employment law requires that only 5 % of the FIRST annual salary can be charged for a job placement. However, the agents have made a special arrangement with the State Secretariat of Economic Affairs, which allows them to also charge the fee for the following contracted years. They argue that they do more for their clients than find a new employer for them.

However, if a client is to end their cooperation after a year, they do not have any legal ground to stand on to get the rest of their commission for the following contracted years. "If an agent negotiates a multi-year contract for his client, he is entitled to the agreed fee for the entire contracted period. It is not correct if a player ceases payment after one year - and then looks for another agent once the next contract negotiations are up," Daniel Giger, CEO of the agency "4 Sports" states.
