For the moment, the Finn's contract is valid until the end of 2019, but the club would like to have five imports until the end of the season.

Otso Rantakari was initially signed until the end of the Spengler Cup as an injury replacement for Magnus Nygren, who sustained a knee injury in August. Now that Nygren is almost ready for his seasonal debut, the club soon will have to make a decision about the contract of Rantakari. Raeto Raffainer, team manager of HC Davos, admits that they are looking for a financial solution in order to have five foreigners under contract until the end of the season, as it is not in their budget.

Rantakari has scored eight goals in 17 games so far, the most by any defenseman. He also collected five assists. On average, the 26-year-old spends 17:48 minutes on the ice per game.
