In an interview with HeShootsHeScoores, however, the 37-year-old defenseman takes the wind out of those sails and clarifies: "I absolutely want to continue! I didn't understand how such absurd words could have come out, because I never talked about hanging up my skates. I didn't even think about it!"
"If you publish a rumor about a player changing teams, it's one thing, but you can't push out a report on a retirement without having any certainty," Ngoy explains, pointing at the journalist responsible who apparently already apologized to him: "It really bothered me a lot and I hope that this kind of thing won't happen again. Physically I feel 100%, I still want to play and I feel great with the team."
Ngoy made his debut in professional hockey back in the 1999-00 season with Lausanne HC. He stayed with LHC until 2005 when he joined HC Fribourg-Gottéron. Since 2016, he has been part of HC Ambrì-Piotta. "My family feels well in the Ticino, my children go to school here and so... why should I ever stop? If Ambrì wants me to, I'd love to play another season in bianco-blù," he says when asked about his future.
