A deal that apparently has been in the works for a while has now been finalized.

Thanks to having his current contract with HC Davos mutually terminated by the end of the current season, Joren van Pottelberghe is going to join EHC Biel for the coming two years. His contract does not involve any out-clauses.

The 22-year-old netminder became part of Davos in 2016 and has made 58 games for them so far. This season, he has put up a .912 save percentage and a 2.68 goals-against average in 17 starts.

"Joren van Pottelberghe, in many ways, matches a modern hockey goalie: he is tall and plays a solid butterfly style", Thomas Roost, Biel's chief scout, comments the signing.

Van Pottelberghe will join the team's current backup Elien Paupe in the quest to replace the retiring starter Jonas Hiller.
