The SCB Eishockey AG "reserves the right to take legal action against Andrew MacDonald", as he left the team against their will. The defenseman leaves the team at his own request and for personal reasons.
As Alex Chatelain tells the Berner Zeitung, the defenseman called him and described his situation to Chatelain, citing his family in Canada, the uncertainty of the continuation of the season, and him being the sixth import player as reasons why he wanted to be released from his contract.
Chatelain denied his request, but MacDonald's agent informed him later on that his client had still left. "We'll do everything we can. It's not about the money, it's about the principle," Marc Lüthi tells the newspaper when asked about the mentioned threat of legal action in the press release.
Andrew MacDonald suited up in 15 games for SC Bern, recording one assist. He joined the Bears in October but did not manage to secure a regular spot in SCB’s lineup.
