Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the involved companies and unions have put a halt to the construction of Ambrì's new arena.

Construction of the new Valascia: Delay due to the Coronavirus.
HC Ambrì-Piotta

According to La Regione, the construction site will be closed indefinitely as of tonight due to the current health situation. The Valascia Immobiliare SA has granted requests from the involved companies and trade unions.

This situation could have financial consequences for HC Ambrì-Piotta in case the opening of their new arena will be delayed. As HCAP's president Filippo Lombardi tells La Regione the actual costs depend on the duration of the interruption and cannot be quantified yet.

However, the club fears that they might have to start the 2021-22 season in the old Valascia. As Lombardi explains, it would not be easy to change the stadium during the season: "We would therefore risk having the costs of the new arena (...) and at the same time we had to meet the costs of playing in the old one."
