To minimize the effects of the current health crisis on their finances, various clubs have applied for short-time work, Le Matin reports.

EHC Biel's CEO Daniel Villard has handed in their request.

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) announced earlier that they might also grant the professional sports teams to apply for short-time work for their players and coaches. Normally, only employees with permanent contracts would be eligible.

HC Fribourg-Gottéron, Lausanne HC, Genève-Servette HC, and EHC Biel have all handed in their requests for short-time work to the SECO, as they confirm to Le Matin. However, they have not received a response yet.

If their requests should be granted, the clubs might save hundreds of thousands of Swiss francs, Le Matin estimates.
