With currently 24 players (including three import-players) on their roster for the next season, the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers' team manager Janick Steinmann has stopped looking around for new players, as he tells the Südostschweiz: "We now have to think three times before we spend another Swiss Franc."
This means that the Lakers have put on hold any further transfers and contract extensions for now. If the budget allowed it at a later point in time, Steinmann would like to add a fourth import-player, another Swiss defenseman and, if possible, another Swiss forward.
For the open import-player spot and the spot of the Swiss defenseman the Lakers would still be interested in extending Roman Červenka's contract and in keeping Noah Schneeberger, who still has a valid contract with HC Fribourg-Gottéron. The question is if they can reach a financial agreement with these players.
As reported earlier today, several players will also leave the Lakers. The club confirmed the departure of the following 14 players today: Corsin Casutt (Swiss League), Jorden Gähler (EHC Kloten), Nico Gurtner (EHC Olten), Cédric Hächler (HC Ambrì-Piotta), Fabio Hollenstein (HC Thurgau), Danny Kristo (?), Kevin Liechti (?), Jan Mosimann (?), Tom Pyatt (?), Roman Schlagenhauf (?), Florian Schmuckli (HC Thurgau), Juraj Simek (?), Andri Spiller (EHC Kloten), Casey Wellman (?).
