Marco Maurer's original contract with Genève-Servette HC would have expired by the end of next season. Now, however, it is already clear that the defenseman will stay with the Grenats for an additional season, as he has extended his deal prematurely.

"He is a unique player," GSHC's team manager Chris McSorley says about Maurer. "He brings a physical dimension to our game and a lot of character to our team while being an excellent skater. Marco is also very commited to the young players of our club."

Marco Maurer returned to Geneva in 2019. Over the course of the past season, he appeared in 45 games and was on the ice for 20:16 minutes on average. He recorded a total of ten points (two goals).
