Maxim Shalunov, who was drafted by the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks in 2011, hopes that the Blackhawks will sign him to an entry-level deal once the current season is over. Until then, his agent suggests to The Athletic, the likely plan for the 27-year-old forward is to start the season in Switzerland and then move on to North America, whenever the new season begins.

For the past three seasons, Maxim Shalunov suited up for the KHL's CSKA Moskva. Over the course of the 2019-20 season, he appeared in a total of 58 games (including four playoff appearances), in which he recorded 27 points (15 goals).
