SRF journalist Marcel Melcher reported the news on his Twitter feed. His colleague, Samuel Rosenast, already stated yesterday that the rumblings about Thornton joining HC Davos had been consistent. According to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, he will play for the National League for free.

Kristian Kapp (Tages-Anzeiger) spoke with Thornton, who is a Swiss citizen, and the forward had this to say: "I will certainly not take Marc Aeschlimann's number away, I will play with the number 97, like in the old times." The forward also told Kapp that he will soon make a decision about where in North America he will play next season.
