Today the cantonal physician officially mandated a ten-day quarantine for Genève-Servette HC after a total of nine people (players/staff) tested positive for Covid-19.

Confirmed ten-day quarantine for GSHC

The team was already put on provisional quarantine last Friday following one confirmed positive case among the players. As a consequence, the games against Lausanne HC and HC Lugano had to be postponed. Whether the scheduled game on the road in Lugano after the international break on November 10 can be played remains to be seen.

In addition, the Canton of Geneva has decided to declare the state of emergency as of Monday, imposing further restrictions. "We have more hospitalized people than ever before. 56 people are on intensive care," the cantonal physician said. "We are at the peak of the crisis having between 1000 and 1300 infections per day. This is very worrying."

While all non-essential businesses (excluding exceptions) will have to close their doors and private events are limited to five people until at least November 29, the two professional sports clubs, GSHC and Servette FC, are allowed to continue holding Championship games at their arenas.
