As the Blick reveals, EV Zug pays their American forward Justin Abdelkader a monthly salary of CHF 5,000. Because defenseman Jesse Zgraggen has been loaned to HC Davos, however, these costs are fully covered, EVZ's CEO Patrick Lengwiler tells the same source.
Lengwiler also states that signing Justin Abdelkader and applying for state subsidies has nothing to do with each other: "The federal funds are only there to help cover the financial damage caused by the Corona crisis. But we are also in a sporting competition and have goals to which we are committed."
