National League

In an interview with La Liberté, the president of the Swiss Ice Hockey Players Union (SIHPU) says that they want to work with the league.

Jonas Hiller does not want to initiate a players' strike.

Jonas Hiller criticizes that they were in contact with Denis Vaucher, the National League's director, on the subject of allowing more import-players on Swiss ice, but nothing more: "From there to being able to give our opinion during the negotiations, that is a step that the twelve CEOs are not ready to take."

Denis Vaucher himself, however, denies this: "On September 23, Jonas Hiller attended the National League meeting, where he had the opportunity to take a stand," he says to La Liberté. "We talk to each other every month by phone. These numerous discussions have resulted in a compromise."

Even though the SIHPU is not happy with seven import-players as of 2022, Hiller wants to avoid a confrontation with the league: "A strike, a possibility mentioned by some players, doesn't seem to us to be the right solution. (...) However, we want the opinion of those who are against this change to be heard."
