At this point, Czech forward Jan Kovář is the only import-player whose contract with EV Zug does not expire at the end of the season. For Carl Klingberg it is clear that he wants to get one of the other spots: "Zug is my home, I would incredibly like to stay here for a few more years," the Swede tells the Luzerner Zeitung.
Klingberg, however, has to be patient. EVZ's team manager Reto Kläy wants to wait until the playoffs are over before possibly signing new deals with his current import-players.
The fate of the 30-year-old Swede could also be tied to the future of Gregory Hofmann. If the Swiss international will try his luck in the NHL next season, EV Zug would be allowed to line up a fifth import-player in his stead. Another spot, which might enhance the chances of Carl Klingberg to continue his career in Zug.
