As of the 2007-08 season, Marc Abplanalp has been a fixture on Fribourg's team. In Switzerland's top league he has played only for the Dragons, suiting up in more than 700 games for them so far.

Without explicitly mentioning the championship title, Abplanalp makes it clear that this is his final goal this season: "I have many great memories to look back on, but I want to look forward and achieve in my last season with the team what we have never achieved before."
This season, the veteran defenseman has been on the ice for a bit more than 16 minutes per game on average. He has appeared in 37 games, in which he scored one goal and added six assists.
