"Rapperswil has not extended my contract," Julian Payr tells the Vorarlberger Nachrichten. "I want to get back into shape now. Then I'll try to find a club near here that will also give me the time to build up [my skills again]."

Payr fractured his kneecap in February 2020 when he was still playing for HC Ambrì-Piotta's organization. He underwent another surgery in October to remove the nails that were put in in his first surgery, but he was still experiencing pain because the kneecap did not entirely grow together again.

It was not clear whether he could continue to play hockey. However, Payr underwent another surgery two weeks ago to fixate his kneecap with another two nails and is now pain-free. As the defenseman tells the same source, his doctor is now confident that after physical therapy, he will be able to play again.
