This year, at 20, Janis Moser has been having a breakout season, after already showing promising things in his first two full seasons with EHC Biel. For this reason, it would be incomprehensible for Martin Steinegger if no NHL team would sign him over the summer: "With my modest knowledge of this sport, I can't imagine that an NHL team won't sign him. I would find that incomprehensible, anyway."
Nonetheless, Moser has already been passed over twice in the draft, and Steinegger would be happy to be proven wrong for a third time, although he admits he is definitely not counting on the young defenseman for the upcoming season despite a contract valid until 2024. In the case Moser would actually move to North America, EHC Biel would be able to replace him with a fifth import player, likely a defenseman.
This season, Moser recorded 30 points in 49 games, the most by any U21 player and the second-most among Swiss defensemen, only behind Santeri Alatalo. Moreover, Moser spends on average 21:24 minutes on the ice per game, the fourth-highest TOI among Swiss players in the National League.
