As the contract of their 31-year-old top scorer contains an out-clause for the KHL, it is not yet clear if he will still suit up for Zug next year.

Will Jan Kovář still play for EV Zug next season?

"In these times it's very difficult to say what will happen next," Jan Kovář explains to Zentralplus when asked if he will remain with EV Zug. "I can't say 100 per cent that I will stay. The only thing I can say for sure is that I'm more likely to stay."

«The truth is that I don't feel a great need to go back to the KHL.»
Jan Kovář

That there is interest from other teams is nothing new for the Czech forward: "Over the course of the last two years, since I've been here, I've received offers from other clubs almost constantly," he says. It thus seems like he could return to the KHL at any time, if he wanted to: "But the truth is that I don't feel a great need to go back to the KHL."

This season Jan Kovář has been the National League's undisputet top scorer with 63 points (16 goals) in 52 regular season games. He has been elected as the league's best forward and MVP.
