EC VSV announced in May that they had signed Jérôme Gauthier-Leduc to a two-year contract. However, the team announced yesterday that the contract had been dissolved and that Gauthier-Leduc would sign with a team in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Today, HC Ajoie presented the defenseman as part of their roster.

"After very difficult negotiation, we have reached an agreement with Jérôme and his new club in the National League on a substantial buyout sum for the two-year contract," EC VSV's Chief Financial Officer Andreas Schwab stated (relayed by Hockey-News.info).

Gauthier-Leduc played for the Vienna Capitals last season. The Canadian defenseman, who was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 2010, recorded six goals and 27 assists in 48 regular-season games.

With the addition of the 28-year-old defenseman, Ajoie now has four imports on their roster for coming season, all of them from Canada.
