What the Berner Zeitung reported this morning is now officially confirmed by the club. "With his qualities and experience, Joël Vermin will be a great adddition to our team," SCB's team manager Andrew Ebbett explains. "We are also extremely pleased that a homegrown talent returns to SCB."

Vermin's contract with GSHC, which is valid until the end of the upcoming season, would have also included an option for an additional season. The 29-year-old, however, has decided to not make use of it and return to Bern, eight years after he left for North America.

SCB seems to be planning well ahead. For 2022 they are reportedly also already in advanced negotiations with HC Lugano's defenseman Romain Loeffel and are working on a contract extension with their defenseman Ramon Untersander.

Since his return to Switzerland in 2017, Joël Vermin has suited up for Lausanne HC and Genève-Servette HC. Last season, the forward appeared in a total of 61 championship games for GSHC and recorded 42 points (twelve goals).
