As his last club - the ZSC Lions - announced, the 38-year-old defenseman has decided to hang up his skates.

"It was great! It was more than great! It was the greatest!". These are the words Severin Blindenbacher chose to open his farewell letter with. After 20 seasons of pro hockey and several trophies, including four Swiss championships with the ZSC Lions, Blindenbacher will therefore begin a new chapter in his life.

Blindenbacher had not played a game since January 2020, when he sustained a severe concussion that kept him out for the entire past season. Blindenbacher, together with teammate Roman Wick, will be properly bid farewell by the Lions on October 2, in a game against SC Bern.
