National League

With the defenseman being in the lineup tonight, he ties Mathias Seger for most appearances in the National League.

During the 1999-00 season, as a member of SC Langnau (now the SCL Tigers), a 17-year-old Beat Gerber made his first appearance in what was then the NLA. 1166 games later, the defenseman will equalize the record set by Mathias Seger tonight - and most likely surpass him by the end of the week.

Four years after his debut with Langnau, Gerber moved to the capital to join SC Bern. In his first season with them, he won the Swiss Championship. Since then, five more have been added to the collection, as well as two Swiss Ice Hockey Cup titles.

Besides his currently 1166 National League games, the now 39-year-old Gerber also appeared eight times in the Swiss League.
