Alexander Yakovenko and Viktor Lööv are signed until the end of the season, but will likely stay for longer. Joren van Pottelberghe might not.

"Nothing is signed yet. But we are on a good path", EHC Biel's team manager Martin Steinegger tells Watson's Klaus Zaugg in regards to the two defensemen. Both Swede Lööv (29) and Russian Yakovenko (23) joined on one-year deals during the off-season.

With the two defensemen and forward Toni Rajala, Biel would have three imports signed for next season, when presumably six will be allowed. As Steinegger states, they will likely go into the season with five and see where they need reinforcements.

There is some uncertainty about the goaltending position - Joren van Pottelberghe might leave for Detroit. "For his development, it would probably be better if he stays here until he can compete in a World Championship as a number 1", Steinegger says in regards to the matter. In case the 24-year-old decides to leave anyway, Biel would use their sixth import slot on a netminder.
