With his current agreement with the club soon ending, the 26-year-old has decided to put his signature on a new deal valid through 2024.

Yannick Rathgeb explains his decision to stay with EHC Biel with a simple but yet effective argument: "I like it very much in Biel. The atmosphere in the team, the fans and the region make me very happy. I therefore saw no reason to look elsewhere."

Before signing this new contract, however, Rathgeb has waited to see how the roster would have looked for the future. Talking about Rathgeb's future, these next two years in Biel will be the fourth and the fifth consecutive season for the native of Langenthal with the Seeländer.

Since his return from North America in 2015 (and except his short stint in the AHL in 2018), Rathgeb has collected at least 27 points in each full season. In this championship, the offensive defenseman has already scored six goals and put up 14 assists, which makes him the ninth most-prolific defenseman at the moment.
