NLA - Shortly after Damien Brunner had cleared unconditional waivers, HC Lugano has announced that they have agreed to a contract with the winger that will keep him in Ticino until the end of the 2018/19 season.

"I am looking forward to play in a young and talented team. The change in my career comes at the right moment. I realised that I need an environment that has confidence in my abilities", says the 28-year-old forward about his return to Switzerland.

Brunner will thus continue this season in the jersey of the Bianconeri. He has, however, an out-clause in his contract - starting in the 2016/17 season - which will allow him to leave the team, if he has an offer from abroad.

Damien Brunner played 135 games in the NHL, scoring 67 points (30 goals, 37 assists) for the Detroit Red Wings and the New Jersey Devils. This season, he recorded seven points (two goals, five assists) in 17 games, before he was placed on waivers by the Devils. His contract with HC Lugano will run through 2019.
