As the forward tells the Berner Zeitung, he was able to fully practice again with the team on Tuesday, albeit in a no-contact jersey.

Thomas Rüfenacht, who has been out of the lineup since 2020 due to a severe knee injury, will also have the opportunity to remove the plates and screws, as well as some scarred tissue, from his second surgery in February 2022.

However, he is not yet sure if he wants to undergo the procedure: "It's not yet clear how long the recovery time will be after such a surgery. I will have to look at this carefully with the doctor."

While he is now practicing again, it still remains to be seen whether he will actually be able to make a comeback. Moreover, Rüfenacht's contract with SC Bern expires at the end of this season. His future is, for now, also up in the air.

Rüfenacht would like to stay in Bern, but if he will not be able to do so, he hopes to get a chance from another team. "Before we talk about anything, he has to see that he gets healthy again," team manager Andrew Ebbett tells the newspaper, but also adds that the door is not closed for him.
