What was anticipated in the last couple of days is now confirmed by SC Bern's team manager in an interview with Der Bund.

Eric Blum will not receive a new contract.

"I talked with Eric [Blum] on Monday. He still wants to play. We cannot give him a new contract," SCB's team manager Andrew Ebbett says to Der Bund. Blum's contract expires at the end of this season.

However, the club wants to give Blum the needed infrastructure on his way back from a severe concussion which keeps him sidelined since multiple months. "He will still stay with us for a while, which is good for our youngsters."

As for Rüfenacht, there will be talks in the upcoming days. Ebbett says: "We want to know if he wants to keep playing or if he quits. He still is very important for the culture and the fans of the SCB."

But Ebbett also says in the interview that there will be no new agreement for Rüfenacht, whose contract expires as well and who was sidelined with a knee injury. "Regarding the budget, this will probably not be possible," Ebbett says.
