The parliament of the city has rejected the second interim report on the expansion of EV Zug's arena. Now, a new solution is needed.

Since 2019, EV Zug wants to increase the capacity and the catering of the Bossard Arena. For that matter, a proposal has been worked out by the City Council and EV Zug which sees a transfer of ownership of the arena for the upcoming 35 years to the club by means of a building lease.

Now, the parliament has rejected this solution, although EV Zug would have paid for the expansion of the arena by themselves. "We have to accept that it is more important for a majority of the members of parliament that the city retains control over the stadium with all rights and obligations," EV Zug's CEO Patrick Lengwiler says.

Giving up, however, is not an option for the club: "We will analyze the new situation and look for an alternative solution with the involved parties in a timely manner," Lengwiler says.
