After one season in Switzerland, Zack Mitchell has decided to return to the KHL, where he played from 2019 to 2021. Back in April, the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers had already announced that their cooperation would not continue over the 2022-23 season. In 57 games with the Lakers, Mitchell recorded 26 points.

A free agent since the end of this past season, the 29-year-old Canadian has signed a deal with Vityaz Podolsk in the KHL.
