According to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), the 24-year-old forward has now agreed to terms with EHC Kloten and signed a deal with them. As he is a restricted free agent, the Buffalo Sabres, his NHL team, still have time to make an offer to him until July 15. If Arttu Routsalainen were to decide then to play in North America after all, Kloten would be compensated.

Ruotsalainen, who was never drafted, signed a three-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres in 2019. In the last two seasons, he played 35 games for the Sabres and 59 games for their AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans.
