As their current head coach Jeff Tomlinson has to step back from his position, EHC Kloten has started looking for his successor.

According to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, one of the candidates is Michael Liniger, the head coach of the GCK Lions. As a player, the now 43-year-old has a long history in Kloten; he played for them for nine seasons from 2007 to 2016.

Another candidate is EC Salzburg's head coach Matt McIlvane, the NZZ reports. Although he is only 37 years old, the US-coach already has a lot to show for: Last season, he won the ICEHL championship with Salzburg. From 2015 to 2018, he celebrated three championship titles in the DEL as an assistant coach with Red Bull München.

Kloten's team manager Larry Mitchell and their current head coach Jeff Tomlinson are now working together to find the right fit for the team. "I would be very inept if I didn't benefit from Jeff's wealth of experience," Mitchell says to the NZZ.
