In 2021, Maximilian Streule was drafted by the Winnipeg Ice and subsequently went overseas to join the WHL-team. Earlier this season, he was acquired by the QMJHL's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. As HC Fribourg-Gottéron has now announced, the defenseman will return to Switzerland in summer to play for them for the next two years.

"Maximilian is one of the best defenders of his generation and has participated in two World Junior Championships with Switzerland", team manager and head coahc Christian Dubé notes. "We believe in his enormous potential and are delighted that he has chosen Fribourg. We will do everything we can to shape Maximilian into a top National League defenseman."

Since joining the Armada, Streule has put up three goals and ten assists in 26 games. Prior to that, with the Ice, he recorded three goals and eleven assists in 71 games.
