Whereas Deussen, 19, is a homegrown product, Kellenberger arrives from the USA, where he played in the NCAA for the past five years.

To reinforce their defense ahead of the 2023-24 season, EHC Kloten has signed two defenders to two-year contracts. Luca Deussen, who already suited up six times for Kloten this past season, mainly played for EHC Winterthur this championship collecting two points in 29 games.

While he will be under contract with Kloten, he will spend the 2023-24 season with HC Thurgau. He will suit up for the Swiss League team via B-license.

For his part, Matthew Kellenberger will play for the first time outside North America. The 23-year-old is a Swiss-Canadian citizen. After his junior years in Canada, Kellenberger joined NCAA's Princeton University in the USA. This season, the defender played for the Rochester Institute of Technology, collecting nine points in 37 games.
