Compared to the time before the pandemic, the SCL Tigers lost about 700 spectators per game. "There is a rough calculation," president Peter Jakob says to the Berner Zeitung. "100 spectators per game extrapolated over a season make CHF 100,000."
Nevertheless, Jakob does not expect the club to get into financial troubles due to the fewer spectators: "We have budgeted carefully, so we will present a small loss, if any."
The reason fewer spectators came to the arena is clear for Jakob: "We played very badly and often lost – that didn't leave many fans unaffected." In the future, this has to change again: "We have to bring joy and positive emotions – like in the playout against Ajoie."
