According to Cyrill Pasche (Sport-Center, published on Le Matin), Tommi Niemelä's name has been brought into connection with EHC Biel's vacant coaching position.
Niemelä, who, according to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), was also on the list of SC Bern, has one drawback, though: he has a valid contract in place with Lahti Pelicans for the upcoming season. Whether he would thus be able to join EHC Biel remains to be seen.
As Pasche further reports, the "trail leading to" Benoit Groulx, who has served as the head coach of the Syracuse Crunch for the past seven seasons, "has gone cold." Zaugg reported last week that the Canadian might be a potential candidate.
