"We expected something different, the conditions found are not as agreed and therefore we decided to cancel our participation in the tournament," Franz David Fritzmeier, team manager of the Löwen Frankfurt says in a statement of the team.
As Lauren Ardiet, the organizer of the 26th Hockeyades, tells Sport-Center (published on Le Matin), the team was not happy with their lodging, "in particular the fact that the players were not housed in single rooms." They had, however, booked the stay themselves through an agent. According to Ardiet, they were not involved.
The organizers are now looking for a team to replace the Löwen Frankfurt but it will be difficult to find a replacement by August 17. The Löwen would have played against Genève-Servette HC on Thursday and against HC Fribourg-Gottéron on Friday.
