According to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), Thomas Rüefenacht has decided to put an end to his hockey career. In the past three seasons, the forward was not able to play a lot due to injuries but he fought his way back to the ice time and time again.
Throughout his career, Rüfenacht has suited up for the SCL Tigers, EHC Visp, Lausanne HC, Genève-Servette HC, EV Zug, HC Lugano, SC Bern, and HC Ambrì-Piotta. He won three championships and two cups with SC Bern and one championship with Lausanne HC. He appeared in over 600 National League and 200 Swiss League games.
