Having to leave the only club he has ever played for, the veteran forward is not yet ready to hang up his skates.

Andrei Bykov has gone through a bit of a difficult time after being notified by his club, HC Fribourg-Gottéron, that they will not offer him an extension. La Liberté asked him some questions about his situation, one of them being if he were to play in different colors coming season. "I do not know. I just hope so. I want to keep going", the 35-year-old states.

"I cannot see myself quitting ice hockey, even though I have been asking myself a lot of questions", he continues. "I was so sure I would get another chance with the club."

As Bykov notes, other teams have contacted him and he does have options.

His draconic teammates apparently even tried to convince Fribourg's management to keep Bykov by proposing a cut to their own salaries. "I have never seen or heard anything like it", the forward comments on the idea. "And to be honest, I would have turned it down if it had become concrete. It is an extraordinary, sublime gesture. I would have been the first to make it, but I find it hard to accept."
