The 23-year-old defenseman signed an entry-level deal with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2015, but played the entire season for their AHL team (Leigh Valley Phantoms), scoring one assist in 27 games.
His contract with the Flyers would have been valid until 2017, but as Nicola Berger (Neue Zürcher Zeitung) reported in May, he has an out-clause for Europe in the agreement should he not be in the NHL by December. He will stay with the Lions until 2019. (mso)
