Yesterday, Hoivinen's last employer KooKoo (Kouvolan Edustuskiekko) announced that he would leave the team with immediate effect. La Regione then reported in the evening that he would join Lausanne. Now, the Lions have confirmed this statement. Hoivinen is expected to arrive in Lausanne on Thursday.

The Lions are Hoivinen's fourth team this season. He has already played for Medvescak Zagreb of the KHL and KalPa and KooKoo of the Liiga. In five games for KooKoo, he posted a 0.917 save percentage.
