"The 'Taft School' in Connecticut, which I attended as well, contacted me and made me an offer for a position as a hockey coach. That's a position which is only available every 20 years, so I couldn't reject the offer," Shannon says in an official statement. The forward's contract with the ZSC Lions will expire at the end of this season.

Shannon joined the Lions in 2012. In 217 games, the 33-year-old was able to put up 154 points (45 goals and 108 assists). Furthermore, the American won the Championship with the Lions once.
