As Steve Hirschi tells the Berner Zeitung, should he decide to continue to play after the end of this season, the SCL Tigers are his only option.

HC Lugano had announced on Wednesday that they would not extend the contract of the 35-year-old defenseman, who had been the Bianconeri's captain until 2016. While Hirschi would like to continue his career, he also has to consider his children, who are going to school in Lugano: "The decision is not just about me. I cannot rush into anything."

Steve Hirschi started his career with Langnau in 1998 and played for them until 2003, when he joined HC Lugano. In 37 games this season thus far, he has scored three goals and two assists.

As the same source reports, Jörg Reber, who confirmed his interest in Hirschi yesterday, had also been in talks with SC Bern's Martin Plüss a couple of weeks ago. As the Berner Zeitung speculates, now, that it is clear that Plüss will not continue his career with the Bears, Reber might try again to lure the 39-year-old center into the Emmental.
