The 31-year-old defender is currently playing with Martigny Red Ice and faces a 0-3 debit against HC Ajoie with his team. Therefore, it is likely that Birbaum will be available for the upcoming playouts for the SCL Tigers.
Birbaum, who played for HC Fribourg-Gottéron and HC Ambrì-Piotta in the National League A, joined Red Ice this season. So far, he was able to put up 21 points (two goals and 19 assists) in 48 games.
