Just before the start of the playoffs, the ZSC Lions have decided to add another chapter to the outstanding career of their captain Mathias Seger: The 39-year-old will stay with the Lions for another season, which will be his 19th and final season in Zurich. He joined the club back in 1999 from Rapperswil.

"I'm very grateful for the trust the club has in me," Seger says in the Lions' press release. "I feel good, I'm extremely motivated and I'm looking forward to another season here - it will be my last one." Also team manager Edgar Salis is happy to have Seger on his team for another year: "Mathias Seger still is an important pillar of our team. On and off the ice."
