Klaus Zaugg (Watson) had already revealed earlier this month that Olsson was the main candidate for the vacant assistant coaching position. The 41-year-old spent the last two seasons as head coach of HC Davos' Elite A team. He will now stay with Biel until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Furthermore, the Seelanders have extended the contracts of Willi Kaufmann and Thomas Zamboni. Kaufmann, responsible for the off-season training, has signed a three-year contract. Zamboni, on the other hand, will stay on for two more years as an off-ice coach and video coach.
