Yesterday, Flavio Vigelzio (Corriere del Ticino) reported that HC Lugano had extended Maxim Lapierre's contract for another season. At least three other import players, on the other hand, will presumably have to leave the Bianconeri, as the CdT reports.

First of all, Ryan Wilson's one-year contract expired and will very likely not be extended. Consequently, the 30-year-old Canadian defenseman will have to leave Lugano. In addition, still according to the same source, Swedish forward Tony Mårtensson (photo) will not get a new contract in Lugano and will presumably not play a third season for the Bianconeri. As reported by the Aftonbladet in early March, several SHL teams are apparently interested in the 36-year-old forward.

Furthermore, Patrik Zackrisson may part ways with Lugano after just one season despite a valid contract for the 2017-18 season. This could also apply to Linus Klasen, Lugano's third Swedish import forward. Klasen's future, however, is still uncertain. The 31-year-old might still play a fourth season in Lugano.
